Mad max (new one) absolutely terrible.

I quite enjoyed the first mad max (Mel Gibson) so thought I might enjoy this one.

Well 2hrs of my life I'll never see again

{Ed001's Note - really? You are the first person I have known that didn't enjoy it. I don't know whether to watch it or not now. I love the first one, which is putting me off seeing the remake.}

Honestly mate I was expecting this to be good as I enjoyed the original one but I thought it was awful.

I'm going to watch the original one today to try and rid me of the tripe I watched yesterday.

{Ed001's Note - what was so bad about it? Just wondering as I have even heard people call it one of the top ten films ever, so it is interesting to get a different view.}

The story was weak, it was more or less just driving all the way through, very little action, although it was called mad max the character max did very little.

We all have different tastes in films so you may like it but for me it was another disappointing remake.

{Ed001's Note - I seem to remember the original having very little in the way of strong story. It was mainly about the driving. Though I did have worries regarding it as the shots I saw looked to have been taken from Mad Max 2 remake, which was nothing like as good as the first film. I haven't seen the films for a long time now though, maybe it is time I remind myself how good they were?}

Perhaps it's just me it's got 8.5 on imdb so it seems like people do like it.

It may just be my issue with all remakes I'm just not a fan if the original was good I see very little point in remaking it

{Ed001's Note - I am the same on remakes, it just seems a lazy way to make more money.}

Oh and yes it was more of a remake of the 2nd one

{Ed001's Note - ah ok, that is not so appealing then, it was the first one that I particularly loved.}

Very little action? Are you sure you watched the right film?

It was bat sh*t mental from start to finish. Great watch!

{Ed001's Note - so you recommend it then?}

G.A.G.U.S thanks I just checked what I watched and it was herbie rides again.

All opinions differ and I thought it was awful.

Yeah I would Ed. Opinions differ yeah, but 'very little' action?

The thing G.A.G.U.S is that I really enjoyed the original mad max and I very rarely enjoy remakes and I didn't think there was a great deal of action.

One thing I didn't realise was the director George Miller who I believe was the director of the originals.

I only enjoyed the very first mad max thought 2 + 3 was crap

Fair enough yeah, remakes are just a lack of imagination these days.

They're even making another new Spider-Man 😂

Aslong as toby maguire will never don the spider suit I'll be happy.

{Ed001's Note - how many times can they remake Spidey???

I saw The Town the other day ed001. Affleck was brilliant. I think he gets a lot of stick for his portrayal of DarDevil(script was terrible but his portrayal and actions representing those of a blind person to me were spot on) and also his stint of films whilst with Jlo were terrible,where I think he was just picking up cheques in such as jersey Girl,Paycheck,Gigli changing lanes.
I prefer Him in films with Dialogue rather than action,I think that's his forte.
I think in recent years he's invented himself as a serious actor. such as you said,the town,state of play,runner runner,gone girl, and Argo. He's trying to almost step away from being a hollywood hearthrob to serious actor for me,which was a good move.

With regards to Tom Hardy mentioned. I seriously think atthis time there is no actor who is comparable. I first fell in love for his acting skills when he was an unknown starring in star trek nemesis opposite Patrick Stewart. Their one on one Dialogue and scenes stole the show (From a poor film) They bounced well off one another,especially in the scene (echo over the voice)

Hardy transitions so easily into any role,and actually makes poor films watchable(I thought the drop was a terrible script) For me at the moment,he's hollywoods most bankable star.

{Ed001's Note - Argo! That was the film I was trying to think of, excellent film and Affleck did play the role well. I think you are right, he is much better as a serious actor, he just doesn't suit the hearththrob or action hero guise well. It just doesn't play to his strength. Which is a worry with him as the new Batman, so hopefully they will do what they did with Bale and hide his weaknesses using the suit. Allow Affleck to do the serious parts and then use the suit for the action.

I also agree with your thinking on Hardy, I can't think of anyone else that can slip into a role so easily, no matter what the role requires. He can be a totally believable nice guy in one film and the next be the opposite, not once do you see him as the guy from the previous film. He always manages to make you forget what you just saw him as and instead see him as what he is now. That is a great talent that very few have.

There are people out there like Statham that are very watchable, but they only really work well in the right role. He can be the flawed bad arse hero, but anything else and he just seems out of place. It is a shame Robin Williams is no longer with us, he was another that could slip into a role and make it seem like him. He could be evil in one film and then funny in the next. Shame he never really got the chance to show enough of his acting skills because of his talent for comedy.}

I was apprehensive at first when I saw Affleck was appointed to be the new batman,but not dismissive as a lot of the comicon type fans seem to be. I am hoping like you,the action sequences are small,and it's more of a political type thing of Batman dialoguing with superman who will be working for the government.Seemingly the trailer hints at this, as well as Batman being ''old'' I am hoping for it to be more about trickery than action,and big fight sequences(I wasn't such a fan of those in man of steel,far too long,vileent and destructive for my liking given the character) I'll still see the film in the cinema regardless of how critical reviews turn out.

Agree completely with Statham being the Anti-hero type role. He plays it so well. I'd I'd like him to step away from doing so many sequels to his films though,but I guess he gets offered a lot of money,and the industry sees them as bankable.

I think a lot of the great ''serious'' acting roles Robin Williams performed mirrored his jovial personality and caring side. Such as his characters in good will hunting,Mrs Doubtfire,Jumanji,what dreams may come,dead poets society. He plays a family man who likes to joke and play,or some sort of guidance figure. Which mirrorred a lot for me,his real life personality.

I have never gone back and watched many of his films aimed at younger people though,which I think I must do at somepoint,to appreciate his comedy. I usually have a ''policy'' if you will of not watching comedies/comedians films after a certain time because a lot of jokes aren't relevant,and humour moves on pretty quickly I feel.

{Ed001's Note - Man of the Year is a film that really comes alive only when Williams gets to do gags, when he gets on a role, doing his own topical stand up, then it is brilliant.}

Ill have a look out for that on netflix or hmv Ed,I might need to set aside a weekend and just have a RW binge day :)

{Ed001's Note - it is quite good to watch him on his soapbox.}

I don't agree with your opinion on Robin Williams Ed001. I think he was nothing special.

He had his moments no doubt, Good Morning Vietnamn was excellent, but the majority of his movies were abysmal.

I watched this movie where he played the part of a Jewish man during WWII and he was also very good in that, but apart from that, I'd say he was your typical average actor.

{Ed001's Note - the man was a genius when he was allowed to be him. 24 Hour Photo he was good in.}
